Introduction

Bloom is a fertility and cycle tracking app developed by Kason Suchow. This privacy policy explains how Bloom handles your personal information.

In short: Your health data stays on your device and under your control. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data.

Information We Collect

Bloom allows you to track the following types of health data, all of which is stored locally on your device:

  • Menstrual cycle dates and flow intensity
  • Basal body temperature (BBT) readings
  • Cervical mucus observations
  • Ovulation predictor kit (OPK) results
  • Intercourse logs
  • Symptoms including physical, mood, and energy indicators (20 categories)
  • Personal notes

Information We Do Not Collect

  • Name, email address, or contact information
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers for tracking purposes
  • Usage analytics or behavioral data

How Your Data Is Stored

All health data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Your data remains on your iPhone and is not transmitted to any external server.

If you enable iCloud sync, your data is encrypted and synced via Apple's CloudKit to your personal iCloud account. This data is only accessible to you on devices signed into the same Apple ID. We do not operate any servers that receive, store, or process your health data.

Apple HealthKit Integration

Bloom offers optional integration with Apple HealthKit.

  • If enabled, Bloom may read and write the following Health data types: menstrual flow, basal body temperature, cervical mucus quality, ovulation test results, and sexual activity.
  • HealthKit data is governed by Apple's privacy policies and is not accessible to us.
  • You can enable or disable HealthKit integration at any time in the app's Settings.
  • In compliance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines, Bloom does not use HealthKit data for advertising, data mining, or sharing with third parties.

Third-Party Services

Bloom does not integrate any third-party services, including:

  • No third-party analytics services (no Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar)
  • No advertising SDKs or ad networks
  • No data brokers or data-sharing partners

The only external service used is Apple's CloudKit for optional iCloud sync, which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Retention and Deletion

  • Your data persists on your device until you choose to delete it.
  • You can delete all data from within the app via Settings > Delete All Data.
  • Uninstalling Bloom removes all locally stored data from your device.
  • If iCloud sync is enabled, you can manage synced data through your iCloud account settings.

Security

Data stored on your device is protected by iOS device encryption. iCloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest according to Apple's security standards. Bloom does not implement its own user authentication system — your data is protected by your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.

Children's Privacy

Bloom is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, please contact us so we can assist with deletion.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
